Sophie’s Newborn Photography Session

Someone once asked me what in my eyes is a perfect newborn photography session? Well, in my opinion there isn’t really just one simple answer to that question. I could say (and I quite often do) – that a sleepy, relaxed newborn baby is the main ingredient to the overall success. However more than often the baby is photographed with older sibling and family. Having all family members on the board during the newborn photography session plays a HUGE part.

We can have a sleepy newborn baby, but if we also have a happy older sibling who is willing and excited to cooperate, than the magic happens! This perfect scenario is basically every newborn photographer dream.

Throw in the mix parents who are both happy to participate- heaven!

Sophie’s session was just exactly that – a dream to photograph. Older sister understood the assignment completely and made my work so much easier. I only wish all sessions with siblings went so easily. Mom and dad were equally impressed.

We started with family photos and quickly went to siblings shots. I usually try to take them as soon as possible during the newborn photography session and aim to do them the beginning. At this point usually older sister or brother had enough time to warm up to me, and are still interested in what is going on around them.

I try to take as many photos of the newborn baby with siblings simply because I know how important they are to the parents. As a parent myself I love to have my kids together in one photo. My clients are no different, and having memories like that is special to them. Let’s also not forget about the grandparents, who absolutely LOVE to have all grandkids in one photo.

However, newborn photography session is not always so simple. Sometimes older children simply are not “into” the entire experience. And that’s fine too. Regardless, rest assure – I will try to create the most beautiful and authentic memories for your family. Having almost 10 years experience in newborn photography comes with a bag of tricks in my sleeve ;). I got you! I simply want you to trust the process.
